POLLUTIONt |
In summer, ozone pollution levels here (and in other rural areas of East Anglia) persistently exceed World Health Organization and UK government guidelines and are higher here than anywhere else in the UK. Ground-level ozone (a cocktail of air pollutants reacting with sunlight) is considered to be one of the most ‘important’ pollutants of our air and is set to get worse as temperatures rise. For more information see the Air Quality Archive. This site will also give you current pollution forecasts by area. For specific information about ozone exceedences in 2006 click here. In addition, the Royal Society are so concerned about ground level ozone pollution that they have launched a study into its likely future impact. - back - |
